About The People Ops Manager
The People Ops Manager is an MCP-first web app that helps HR and People Ops teams coordinate onboarding and offboarding across HR, IT, Finance and hiring managers, with readiness based on verified tasks and a human approval for every consequential change.
It is built and operated by Max Benz in Dresden, Germany. Its promise: every new starter ready on day one, without chasing five teams.

What The People Ops Manager is
The People Ops Manager is a system of record for employee transitions. Each onboarding or offboarding becomes a case with a workflow, tasks, owners, due dates, dependencies and approvals. A People Readiness Center shows who is ready for day one, who is at risk and why. Readiness is shown as "6 of 10 tasks verified", never as an opaque score.
It is MCP-first: you talk to an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT to take action, and you use the web app to see what is happening, what connects to what and what still needs your approval.
The problem it solves
Onboarding lives in five tools and twenty message threads. HR owns the start date, IT owns the laptop, Finance owns payroll and the hiring manager owns the first week. Nobody owns the whole picture, so People Ops ends up chasing.
- Status lives in chat. "Is the laptop ready?" gets asked in three channels, and the answer is out of date by the time it arrives.
- Dependencies are invisible. Access cannot be approved before the identity exists. When one team slips, everyone downstream finds out too late.
- Access changes are risky. Granting or removing access without a recorded decision is how audit findings and security incidents start.
Who it is for
The People Ops Manager is for HR and People Ops teams in organizations with roughly 30 to 500 employees that have separate HR, IT and line management. It is built for every team in the handoff:
- People Ops and HR: the whole picture, approvals and the readiness sign-off.
- IT: accounts, devices and access, without the full employee record.
- Finance: payroll set-up, licences and final pay. Amounts stay with Finance.
- Hiring managers: first-week plan, buddy and handover in one checklist.
How it works
- Create the case from your HRIS, in the app or by asking your AI agent. Only operational data is stored.
- Generate the plan. The workflow creates every task with an owner, a deadline and its prerequisites. Hard prerequisites lock downstream work.
- Teams deliver. HR, IT, Finance and the manager complete their tasks. Blockers and overdue work surface immediately.
- HR confirms readiness. Approvals are decided by people. Readiness is verified, never assumed.
Integrations
BambooHR and Personio (read-only HR data), Jira Cloud (IT and manager tickets), Slack (approved reminders) and Microsoft Entra ID (read-only directory checks) connect with an API key from the setup guide. Google Workspace, HiBob and Microsoft Teams are planned. Without integrations, cases and tasks work fully in the app.
AI agents over MCP
Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP-enabled agents connect to a workspace with a personal token. Read tools return only the fields your role may see. Every write becomes an approval request, never a direct change, and agent actions are labelled in the activity log.
What it is not
The People Ops Manager works alongside your HRIS, which stays the source of truth for employee records. It is deliberately not:
- an HRIS replacement or an all-in-one HR suite,
- a payroll system,
- a recruitment or candidate scoring tool,
- a system that makes automated employment decisions,
- a tool for unrestricted account provisioning (access changes are proposed and approved, never executed automatically),
- an HR document vault.
Principles
- Security
- Row-level security in the database keeps every organization's data separate. Owners, admins, operators and viewers have different rights, enforced by the database, not just the interface.
- Privacy
- Data minimisation from the first case. No compensation, identity documents, health or family information. Restricted records hide personal fields from roles without People Ops access.
- Human in the loop
- Agents propose, people decide. Access grants, equipment orders, welcome messages and access removal wait for a recorded human decision that cannot be changed afterwards.
- Evidence over assumptions
- Every change by people, agents and systems is attributed and timestamped. A task counts as done when it is verified.
